Four sections or “chapters” lend themselves to any kind of storytelling scenario. This very contemporary and unique setting is loosely based on Chopin’s Nocturne in E-flat Major, Opus 9, Number 2. Chapter One provides the opportunity for narration or setting the stage for telling a story to your audiences before delivering the opening impact. Chapter

Two moves along in a rollicking manner with pit and battery section features, followed by heroic and sinister themes and lots of twist and turns for the introduction of characters or plot developments. Flutes and Alto Saxophones get a chance to be featured in a technical, but very playable passage, and then the action and tempo really gets kicked up a notch to end this segment.

Any good tale includes a love story, and Chapter Three begins with a tender trumpet solo answered by the woodwinds and leading to some expressive full ensemble moments. Chapter Four begins with a rollicking percussion feature and the rapid presentation of ideas and impacts to quickly wrap-up storylines for that “happily ever after” conclusion to the show. With three chapters at right around the minute and a half mark, that always helps students learn portions of the show faster than a typical two and a half to three minute production, and really instills a feeling of accomplishment.

As with any Center X Productions show, visual concepts can be changed to fit the needs of your group. This show offers many unique musical moments and ideas that would work well with many themes or guard ideas.
