The Race Begins/Pit Stops
A fanfare signals the line up of the competitors. The green flag flies with music depicting the intensity of the race and the roar of cars passing the grandstands. Taking on a comic tone, the cars run out of gas, slowing to a stop before refueling and heading to the Pit Stops where every section is featured (trumpet with tenors, low brass and horns with bass drums, and woodwinds with snares).
The Yellow Flag Ballad
The race resumes, climaxing in a mighty crash that stops the action for Part Two: The Yellow Flag Ballad.
The Final Lap
“The Final Lap” includes effective repetitive rhythms including an exotic but very marchable 5/4 section and builds to the final slow motion finish at the checkered flag and victory celebration!
