An original composition composed for the field by Drew Shanefield with percussion parts by Bret Kuhn. Highly energetic and stylized, the music was composed with motion, energy and effect in mind. The rhythmic demand of “Games” is sophisticated yet highly attainable as it travels from duple to triple meter and even a touch of compound meter. All sections are given a chance to shine.
“Let the games begin!”
Tag
Hit the ground running in a high-speed game of tag that literally is an audio and visual game of “Tag, You’re It!” The highly rhythmic and tonally rich theme is set against the lush and reverent chorale theme. Watch and hear them come together in a grand fashion.
Sudoku
An introverted look at the challenging and confounding numbers puzzle. Hear themes from “Tag” get reworked and reconsidered in this lush and mysterious setting.
Capture the Flag
A driving movement that allows the percussion section to take the lead right out of the gate. Quickly the movement shows a hip and jazz-tinged feel that reworks the main themes of the composition. It grooves hard and drives to the final bar lines. The race is on to see who will win and capture the flag.
